The area
Praia das Maçãs and the Sintra coast
Praia das Maçãs is a small beach village on the Atlantic edge of the Sintra-Cascais natural park, a few minutes below the vineyards of Colares. Seafood restaurants, a bakery, cafés and a weekly farmers' market are all within a two-minute walk, and the village keeps its local, lived-in feel even in August. The name comes from a legend: every autumn the stream carried apples from the Sintra hills down to the sea.

Where exactly is the apartment?
The apartment is in Praia das Maçãs, part of Colares on the Sintra coast, 100 m from the beach. Lisbon is about 40 minutes east by car and Lisbon airport is around 45 minutes away.
Do I need a car?
A car is recommended for exploring Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Praia Grande and Azenhas do Mar. Without one, bus 1248 runs to Sintra every 30 minutes from a stop 100 m away, with the historic tram also running in summer; trains connect Sintra to Lisbon. The beach, bakery, supermarket and restaurants are all within walking distance.
How does parking work?
Since 1 October 2026, street parking outside is paid all year, every day from 8am to 8pm, free overnight, with a 4-hour maximum per stop: from 1 October to 30 April the first 15 minutes are free, then €0.50/hour or €2 for 4 hours; from 1 May to 30 September it is €1/hour or €4 for 4 hours. Pay at the machine with coins or Multibanco, or through EasyPark, Telpark or Via Verde. Free all-day parking is a few minutes' walk away further up Avenida Eugène Levy past the roundabout and at the car park opposite Hotel Arribas.
How many people can stay, and what are the beds?
The apartment sleeps 2 in one bedroom with a king bed and hotel-quality linen, and is set up for couples; it is on the 4th floor with no lift. A travel cot for children up to 4 is available for €10/night, deliberately without a mattress for safety. Please bring your own bedding or sleeping bag.
Is there air conditioning and fast Wi-Fi?
Yes: air conditioning and heating, fibre Wi-Fi suitable for remote work, and a Smart TV with Netflix. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, plus a washer and dryer.
How do check-in and check-out work?
Self check-in with a keybox is from 4pm; check-out is by 10am. Early check-in or late check-out costs €15 per hour when availability allows, added on the extras page after booking.
What are the cancellation and deposit terms?
You receive a full refund up to 14 days before arrival, 50% until 7 days before arrival, and no refund after that. A €450 hold is placed on your credit card the day before arrival and released after the stay; nothing is charged if everything is in order.
